StowDir is a companion product to Stowaway which gives you instant
knowledge of all files that have been archived. StowDir acts like the
DOS DIR command. This provides you with a way to quickly and easily
tell what files have been archived. For example, if you wanted to know
all the .ZIP files that have been archived in the current directory,
you would give the command:
STOWDIR *.ZIP
StowDir will then search the archive indexes and display all archived
.ZIP files from the current directory. The display:

Directory of archived files in C:\ZIPBACK
MEGA0403 ZIP 172136 04-03-92 9:41a Active C:\ZIPBACK\
MEGA0402 ZIP 173905 04-02-92 10:04a Active C:\ZIPBACK\
STOW0401 ZIP 195537 04-01-92 12:15p Active C:\ZIPBACK\
MEGA0401 ZIP 174254 04-01-92 12:15p Active C:\ZIPBACK\
MEGA0331 ZIP 173651 03-31-92 9:56a Active C:\ZIPBACK\
The beginning of each line is just like the DOS DIR command output,
contain name, size, date and time. The "Active" flag tells that this
file is "Active" in the archive index. That is, it is not expired, and
has not been logically deleted. The path at the end of the line is the
original path where the file was archived from. There are other
displays that can be controlled by use of the command line parameters.
StowDir MUST be located in the same directory as your archive indexes.
If STOW.EXE is located in the directory C:\STOW, then StowDir.EXE must
be located there as well. It will not be able to find the indexes if
you do not put it in the correct location.
SYNAX:
StowDir <path\filespec> <switches>
Possible switches: /S /P /D /C /L /X
Path\Filespec:
You may provide Stowdir with a path, filespec, filespec and
path, or nothing. If the path\filespec is left blank, Stowdir
assumes the current directory, like the DOS DIR command. If
you provided a path, StowDir will look in the specified path.
If you provide a filespec, Stowdir will display only those
files matching the given spec.
IMPORTANT: StowDir accept a directory specification if the
directory exist on the system. For example, StowDir cannot list
the files archived out of \UTILITIES if the \UTILITIES
directory does not exist.
Switches:
The following switches are valid when using this version of
StowDir. NOTE: You may put these switches in the environment
by using the SET command. For example, SET STOWDIR=/ID:TMP.
/S System. View all archived files from the specified
path down the tree. If you specify C:\, it
will list all files from the root directory
down, which means all archived files on your
system.
/P Pause Pause at the end of every display page and
waits for keypress.
/D Description Show an alternate view of the archived files
which includes the description for each file.
/C aCtive Show only active files, or rather, files that
are not expired, or marked as deleted.
/L deLeted Show only files that have been marked deleted
in the archive index.
/X eXpired Show only files that have "expired" in the
archive index.
Note: /C/X/L can be combined to show any combination of the
above files.
/A Alternate Show Alternate information about each file.
The display will be:
StowDir Copyright 1992 by Patri-Soft. Enter StowDir /H for help
Directory of archived files in C:\
Name CSize ArcDate ArcTime Status
CSHOW EXE 70586 04-14-92 1:41p Active
CSHOWDEL BAT 392 04-14-92 1:41p Active
PRINTDOC BAT 292 04-14-92 1:41p Active
VIDEOA1 DRV 666 04-14-92 1:41p Active
StowDir lists all the same basic information with the
exception that all statistics apply the archive file.
(Archive size, date, and time)
/ID Use an alternate ID for reading the .DAT
files. Sometimes Stowaway is used with
alternate IDs and this parameter is used to
read those .DAT files.
